Filsdorf is an idyllic village in the municipality of Dalheim, in southeastern Germany. It is known for its Roman past. The Gallo-Roman settlement "Vicus Ricciacus" near present-day Dalheim was located on an important transport route between the Mediterranean and the Rhine and included several temples and thermal baths. In 1985, an amphitheater was discovered, accommodating 3,500 - 4,000 spectators. Today, the Roman character of this place is marked by an obelisk adorned with a Roman eagle and located on a plateau overlooking the village. The "Ricciacus Frënn" association also organizes tours of the theater and vicus on summer weekends.
Dalheim has several restaurants and small shops. The "La Cerisaie" house of the Kräizbierg Foundation is located at the entrance to the village, near school areas, and provides supervised accommodation for people with physical disabilities.
The "Charly Gaul" bike path (PC11) stretches for 14 km from Fentange to Ellange, passing through Roeser, Weiler-la-Tour, and Filsdorf.
Filsdorf is in close proximity to several major cities such as Frisange and Remich, as well as the French and German borders. The esplanade in Remich invites you to stroll through the market every third Monday and participate in the monthly flea market.
The bus stop "Filsdorf, Op der Plaz" is a 5-minute walk from the property and is served by bus routes 171, 180, 192, and 455. The nearest train and bus station is in Sandweiler-Contern, 15 minutes away by car, and is served by line CFL 30 (Luxembourg – Wasserbillig – Trier).
Kirchberg in Luxembourg can be reached by car in 20 minutes. Esch-Belval and Remich can be reached by car in 25 and 10 minutes, respectively.
School cycles 1-3 are taught at the Kierlingerstrooss School in Dalheim. There is also a preschool and the "An den Wolleken" center. Cycle 4 is taught in the old school building in Dalheim. Several secondary schools are located nearby in Luxembourg and Grevenmacher.
